Privacy Policy
Who runs Courtside
Courtside is run by Nathan Favier, a junior tennis coach in Texas. He uses it with the families who travel with him to USTA junior tournaments. "We" in this policy means Nathan. You can reach him at nathanfavier03@gmail.com.
This policy explains what Courtside keeps, who can see it, how long it stays, and how to remove it. It covers the iPhone app, the web app at app.tennisforeurope.com, the coach dashboard at dashboard.tennisforeurope.com, and this website.
What Courtside keeps
About you (the coach and parents only):
- The coach's mobile phone number. We use it only to text him a sign-in code. Parents join with the coach's code and give no phone number.
- Your name, whether you are the coach or a parent, and which players you belong to.
About each player, entered by the coach or by the player's parent:
- First and last name, age group (division), seed, and the days the coach works with them.
- Match times, courts, rounds, opponents and scores.
- Notes about the player, and the coach's match debrief (what worked, what to work on, and simple match counts).
- Food and water entries: the time, and an optional short label like "banana".
About the weekend:
- The tournament name, dates and venue, team times like warm up or lunch, and the coach's messages to the team.
- The coach's receipts, each family's share of the costs, and whether a bill is unpaid, sent or paid.
- The coach's payment handles, such as Venmo or Cash App.
About opponents: Courtside keeps the opponent's name for each match, as the tournament draw lists it. Opponents never use Courtside.
Technical records: when you use Courtside, our hosting providers receive your IP address and basic browser or device details, as every website does. They keep these in short-lived logs, under their own retention rules.
There are no ads, no analytics, no trackers and no cookies. Nothing is sold, rented or shared for advertising. Nothing is used to build a profile of you.
Information about children
Courtside is for the coach and parents. Players do not have accounts and never sign in, whatever their age. No child types anything into Courtside.
What Courtside holds about players, including players under 13, is typed in by the coach or by the player's own parent. It is used only to run the team's weekend, and it is deleted on the schedule below.
Food and water entries, notes and debriefs can touch on how a player feels or performs. We treat them as sensitive. Only the coach and the parents who joined for that player can see them.
Who sees what
- Everyone who joins a weekend sees the team: each player's name, age group, seed, schedule, opponents and scores, plus the names of the adults who joined and which player they belong to. They also see team times, the venue and the coach's messages.
- Notes, food and water entries and debriefs are seen only by the coach and the parents who joined for that player. A note the coach marks "Only me" is seen by the coach alone.
- A family sees its own bill and the receipts on it. The coach sees every family's bill.
- A win card can be made only by the coach or that player's family. It shows the player's first name and last initial, the round, the score, the tournament name and the date. It never shows the opponent. It is made on your device and leaves only when you share it. Once you post it somewhere, that service's rules apply to it.
Services that handle the data
- Supabase stores the data and runs sign-in (servers in the United States).
- Twilio sends the coach's sign-in text messages and receives his phone number to do it (United States).
- Netlify hosts the websites and the web app, and sees requests to them (United States).
- Apple distributes the iPhone app.
These services process the data only to run Courtside, under their own terms. Tapping a map or payment link opens Apple Maps or Venmo, and what you do there is covered by their own policies.
On your device
To keep you signed in, and to work at courts with poor signal, Courtside saves your sign-in and a copy of the current weekend in your phone's or browser's local storage. That is not a cookie, and it is not shared with anyone.
How long it stays
- A weekend and everything in it (players, matches, notes, food and water, debriefs, receipts, bills and messages) is deleted automatically 30 days after the weekend's last day. The coach can delete it sooner.
- A phone that opened the app but never joined a weekend is deleted after a day. Any other sign-in that no longer belongs to a weekend is deleted once it is more than 30 days old.
- Hosting logs and the text-message provider's records follow those providers' own retention rules.
Deleting your data
- In the app, go to Profile, then Delete my account (a parent who joined with a code sees Leave this weekend). This deletes your sign-in, your name on the team, and the notes, food and water entries and messages you wrote. Scores you entered stay with the match, without your name.
- If the coach deletes his account, his weekends and everything in them are deleted too.
- A player's record was created by the coach. To remove your child and everything about them, email nathanfavier03@gmail.com or ask the coach in person. He will delete it within 7 days, and the 30-day schedule above applies regardless.
- If you are a parent who never joined Courtside, the coach may still have entered your child's name and schedule. The same email works for you.
You can also ask us to show you, correct or delete anything we hold about you or your child. We answer within 30 days.
Security
Data is sent encrypted. The database lets each person reach only what the rules above allow. No security is perfect. If something goes wrong that affects you, we will tell you.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. If a change affects how your family's information is used, we will tell you in the app before it applies.
